Super Bowl traffic stops in Las Vegas net nearly 30 DUI arrests

According to reports, The Nevada Highway Patrol arrested 29 suspects for drunk driving-related charges during the Super Bowl weekend.

An overwhelming majority of these arrests came from traffic stops. Only three of the arrests occurred after accidents.

The city of Las Vegas expected nearly 300,000 people to be in town for Super Bowl weekend. Many of these people drove from California.

Kansas City Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on the weekend of 11-20-09 through 11-22-09 to avoid DUI related crashes or DUI arrests in that area (Crime Scene KC).

Out of 157 stops, 4 arrests were made. It looks like the four people arrested will need to hire a Missouri DUI attorney if they want to fight the harsh penalties that follow.

Sobriety checkpoint scheduled for this weekend in Delaware

According to local television affiliate WBOC News, The Delaware Office of Highway Safety is coordinating statewide stepped up enforcement of Delaware’s DUI laws throughout Halloween weekend as part of the state’s Checkpoint Strikeforce campaign.

Five sobriety checkpoints are planned for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. In addition, there will be an 8-hour checkpoint in the Wilmington area.

The DUI checkpoints are scheduled for the following areas:

Friday, Oct. 30

Wilmington (New Castle County DUI Task Force);

Smyrna (Smyrna Police Department);

Harrington (Harrington Police Department);

Saturday, Oct. 31

Millsboro (Millsboro Police Department);

Clayton (Clayton Police Department)

Seaford (Seaford Police Department- DUI patrols)
